Oliver is an energetic, humorous story filled with memorable characters,
entertaining music and wonderful drama. It is a classic tale of oppression
and struggle set in Victorian England. The musical by Lionel Bart is based
on the novel Oliver Twist, written by Charles Dickens in 1837. The story
makes you laugh and pulls at your heart strings from beginning to end.
We believe that Oliver is a good choice as one of the inaugural productions
for the YDAPA. It has everything we are looking for in terms of challenge
and potential and it is a story that many local young people are familiar
with.
