The YDAPA is staffed by a group of like-minded adults who are interested in
seeing the expansion of performing arts activities for children and young
people. The principles of "sound leadership with professional competence and
education through experience" are crucial to the goals of the association.
The organization is governed by three advisory groups: a Board of Directors
that oversees the finance and business of the association; the Artistic Team
who are the directors, technicians, designers and teachers who will actually
work with the young people to prepare each project; and the Steering Committee
who are a group of parents who assist with the development and administration
of the YDAPA's projects.
The staff and volunteers have chosen to work with the YDAPA because of their
love of musical and young people. All of them are teachers: aspiring
teachers, retired teachers or teachers at heart. The title "York Durham
Academy of the Performing Arts" truly reflects the interests of the founders
of the company: an environment where they can share their knowledge and
passion for the arts with all who will learn and listen.
